What Claire is and getting started
What is Claire?
Claire (ClairePro) is a web app that helps handmade sellers price products from their real costs and keep material and product inventory in sync with sales.
Do I need an account to use the calculators?
No. The public handmade pricing, Etsy fee and wholesale calculators work without an account. An account is needed to save products, materials, bundles and inventory.
How do I sign up?
Create an account with email and password or with Google, then complete a short setup for your country, currency and preferences.
Which countries and languages does Claire support?
Claire focuses on the United States, Canada and Mexico, supports USD, CAD and MXN, and is available in English and Spanish.
Product cost: materials, labor and overhead
What goes into a product's cost in Claire?
Materials, labor time and rate, packaging, seller-paid shipping and an overhead share. Claire then accounts for selling fees and your chosen profit margin.
What is the Production Allowance?
A per-product amount for small production costs that are hard to measure per item, entered either as a fixed amount or as a percentage. It belongs to that product only.
How is organization overhead different from the Production Allowance?
Organization overhead is your recurring business expenses, such as software or rent, spread across the units you forecast for the year. It is counted separately so it is not double-counted with the Production Allowance.
Does Claire tell me what profit margin to use?
No. There is no universal margin. You choose a margin that fits your costs, channel and market, and Claire shows the resulting price.
Forecasts and break-even
What is an annual unit forecast?
Your own estimate of how many units of a product you expect to sell in the planning year. Claire uses it to spread organization overhead per unit.
What does the dashboard break-even card show?
A forecast-based estimate of whether your planned sales cover your recurring business costs. It uses your forecasts and saved prices, not actual sales.
Why is a product marked as needing review?
Its saved pricing data is incomplete or in an older format, so Claire leaves it out of the estimate until you open and re-save it in the pricing wizard.
Marketplace fee profiles, snapshots and currency
What is a marketplace fee profile?
A set of listing, transaction and payment processing fee components for a marketplace and country. The rates are editable estimates you should verify with the platform.
What is a saved fee snapshot?
When you save a product with a fee profile, Claire stores the exact fee values used. Saved prices do not change automatically when the fee catalog is updated.
How do I update a product to newer fee rates?
Open the product in the pricing wizard. If the catalog changed, Claire shows a comparison and applies new rates only if you choose to refresh and then save.
Can I use my own fee rates?
Yes. On the Fee Profiles page you can save your own overrides for a profile, and they are used when you adopt that profile.
What happens when I change my currency?
You can convert saved amounts at a live exchange rate. Keeping the numbers and changing only the label is allowed only when no saved fee snapshot has a non-zero fixed amount; otherwise Claire requires conversion. Percentages never change, and fixed amounts convert once.
Inventory, plans, billing and privacy
How does inventory stay in sync?
Recording a sale deducts the product's stock and, for bundles, the stock of every product in the bundle. Materials track stock with low-stock alerts.
What is the difference between Free and Pro?
Free includes the pricing calculator, up to 3 saved products, 1 bundle and basic material inventory. Pro adds unlimited products and bundles, material editing, restocking, inventory sync and CSV exports.
How does billing and cancellation work?
Pro is billed through Stripe weekly, monthly or yearly. You can cancel in the Stripe Customer Portal; cancellation stops future renewals and access continues through the paid period.
Can I export or delete my data?
Pro users can export CSV files. Any user can delete their account from Settings, which removes account data on the server as described in the Privacy Policy.
Does Claire sell my data or show ads?
No. Claire does not sell personal information or use behavioral advertising. See the Privacy Policy for processors and your rights.
